the reason that I get
the hopeless, innocent feelings
for anyone that gives me a sweet smile
can be summed up by
the things you said tonight
with such vitriol and hate
and the way you looked at me, snarling
as you made that violent, trashy gesture
towards me
as I calmly left to drive my cousin home.
